Technical reference for how Filvo processes files, what stays on-device, and the current limits on AI jobs, downloads, and formats.
How processing works
Filvo has two processing modes. Do not collapse them into “everything stays on the device” or “everything is uploaded.”

Downloads never include a Filvo watermark on Free or Pro. An account is optional — browser tools work without sign-in. See the Privacy Policy for how accounts, analytics, and cookies are handled.
Browser tools
These tools are unlimited on Free and Pro. They run locally, so speed depends on the device and the file size — not a remote queue.
- Image Compressor — JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF — re-encoded with HTML5 Canvas. Metadata is stripped.
- Convert Image — PNG, JPEG, WEBP, GIF — format change stays on the device.
- Image Editor — Resize, crop, layers, watermarks, adjustments. Export PNG, JPG, or WebP.
- Image Color Picker — Sample HEX, RGB, and HSL from any image. Nothing is uploaded.
- Compress PDF — One unlocked PDF, up to 40 MB. Strong / Balanced / High.
- Merge PDF — Up to 25 unlocked PDFs, 40 MB each, 120 MB total. Pages copied as-is.
- Split PDF — Extract pages into one PDF, or a ZIP of one file per page. 40 MB.
- PDF Converter — PDF ↔ JPG / PNG / WEBP, or images into one PDF. 40 MB, or 25 images.
- Organize PDF — Rotate and reorder pages in one unlocked PDF, up to 40 MB and 80 pages.
AI tools
Background removal, upscaling, and object removal go through Filvo’s API so cutout, super-resolution, and erase quality stay high. The request exists to finish the job, not to store a gallery.
- Background Remover — transparent PNG cutout. Free download is a web preview (long edge 512px). Pro keeps the original HD file.
- Image Upscaler — 2× / 4× / 8× super-resolution, not a canvas stretch. Upload JPG, PNG, or WEBP up to 20 MB. Free 2× download is a compressed WebP (JPEG fallback) up to 1,280px. 8× is Pro-only and capped at 5 jobs per day.
- Object Removal — describe the object or paint a mask. Sign in for 1 free test. Free download is a web preview (long edge 512px). Pro keeps the full-resolution file.
- Batch: Free keeps 1 image in the studio at a time. Pro can queue up to 25.
Plans & limits
Guests get 2 free AI tests on background removal and upscale. First Google sign-in adds 1 credit. Object removal requires sign-in and includes 1 free test. Those tests do not reset. Browser tools, including every PDF tool, stay unlimited on every plan. A day pass pays for AI jobs, not for merge or compress.
